• Individual Track List: Here you will find a total of 5018 files averaging about 1 MB in size, or about 5 minutes in length. Right-click and select "Save Target As" these files to download. This is the best option for those on dial-up modems.
  
• Books by Zipped CDs List: Each zipped file is 16 MB in size. This area is best if you plan to later record to an audio CD. You will have to extract them before you can play them. When extracted, they contain about 12 tracks totaling about 74 minutes worth of audio, or exactly one audio CD. This is the best option for those on DSL modems (medium high-speed).
  
• Complete Zipped Books List: About 85 MB in size and containing an average of 100 tracks. When extracted, these files contain several CDs worth of audio covering a complete book of the Bible. This area is ideal if you plan to listen on an MP3 player or a computer. Be prepared for an overnight download. (Caution: these are huge files and are only suitable for high-speed users)
  
• Streaming Audio: Using M3U Play lists, you can now stream individual books of the Bible without having to wait for the download to finish. You can also jump ahead several chapters if you wish. Great for dial-up users who want to listen live from their computers.
  

Please bear in mind that MP3 files imply ownership. You are free to copy them or forward them as you wish. I only ask that you do not charge for this. We use the honour system here. This is the Word of God, and He is in charge of supervising what you actually do with these messages. You can still purchase the original CDs in the bookstore at Thru the Bible at a cost of $525.

All files have a five-digit number attached to them. The first two digits are the number of the book in the Bible. For example, Genesis is 01, and Matthew is 40. The Genesis files start at 01001 and go to 01244. Exodus runs from 02001 to 02134. The last three digits are the track number within the book. This numbering system will allow you to save all files to the same folder and play them in the biblical order. Please note that the broadcast order is different and alternates between the Old Testament and the New Testament. All files are in 32 Kbps mono mp3 audio. I have designed this site to allow for the download of an entire book or just one CD worth with one click by zipping these mp3 files into a single zipped file. (Unzip tutorial here)

Ministry Information

It was back in 1941 that Dr. J. Vernon McGee was persuaded to begin a Sunday radio broadcast called "The Open Bible Hour" on a single station. That little program aimed at "Mr. Average American" was the foundation stone for what would eventually become Thru the Bible Radio.

Dr. McGee was an active participant in this radio ministry for 47 exciting years. When his health began to fail, plans were made in advance to decide how the program would continue in the event of his homegoing. The message would remain the same and the "voice" of Thru the Bible Radio would continue to be Dr. McGee, through the use of the taped 5-year program.

After our Saviour called Dr. McGee home in 1988, the program's reach continued to grow. Today, Thru the Bible is a worldwide ministry airing on over 800 stations in the U.S. and Canada, and heard in more than 100 languages around the world. Our mission is simple and the same one Dr. McGee himself embraced: To take the whole Word to the whole world.

The continued success of this ministry, even after the death of its founder, gives testimony to God's abundant blessings.
